On November 23, 2019, at approximately 02:00 hours, Boston EMTs and Boston Police officers assigned to District A-1 responded to a 911 call reporting that a person had been shot near TD Garden on Canal Street.
Upon their arrival, first responders confirmed that there was one male victim, 25-year-old Fouad Baghdad, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. As his injuries were immediately deemed life-threatening, EMTs loaded him into an ambulance so he could receive treatment at an area hospital. Despite EMTs and doctors attempting to save his life, he eventually succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Due to the severity of the incident, full notifications were made on the scene. Homicide detectives and police officers immediately began searching the area for evidence and possible suspects. Witnesses say that a car was seen fleeing the scene of the shooting, and police stopped and arrested the individuals inside: BRYAN RICE, 22, Boston, and ANTHONY BAPTISTA-GONCALVES, 24, Boston.
Rice is facing charges of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and attempted armed robbery. Baptista-Goncalves is charged with accessory before and after the fact to commit murder and attempted armed robbery.
