On April 8th, 2020 at approximately 03:00 hours Boston Fire Engine 39 and Ladder 18, Boston EMS Ambulance 1, Paramedic 1, the Division 1 Lieutenant, and a Captain in C30 as well as Boston Police Officers assigned to Area C-6 responded to the intersection of D Street and Fargo Street in the Seaport District.
On arrival crews located an adult male inside of a US Postal Servicetractor-trailer, unresponsive and pulseless. The truck appears to have veered across all lanes of traffic before crashing into a parked car following the driver presumed medical emergency. Firefighters immediately began to attempt to extricate the victim, working tirelessly to gain access and provide care. Once the EMTs and Paramedics were able to gain access to the man, they evaluated him and determined he was non-viable, pronouncing him on the scene.
A Boston Police PS was called to the scene and full notifications were made. Detectives, Crime Scene Response, the truck team and the Office of the Medical Examiner all responded. The scene was processed and the victim was subsequently removed.
Our thoughts are with the mans family, and all those who responded. A valiant attempt to save the man was made by all, tragically it was not possible.
