Stolen Car Recovery, 04/26/2020

On April 26th, 2020 at approximately 02:30 hours Boston Police officers assigned to District B-2, as well as members of the Gang Unit, attempted to stop a car in the area of Howard Ave and Wayland Street, off of Blue Hill Ave in Roxbury.

Officers spotted a suspicious vehicle with three occupants, that matched the description of a stolen car. Immediately they radioed for assistance in an attempt to stop the vehicle. Officers were able to box the vehicle in in the area of 180 Howard Ave where the three occupants of the vehicle decided to flee on foot. A brief foot chase pursued before all three occupants were captured and detained by BPD.

During this incident there was a department motor vehicle accident where one member of the K9 Unit was transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries. The K9 cruiser and one of the Gang Unit cars appeared to have collided during the incident. Luckily there were no major injuries or damage.

All three suspects that were believed to have been occupying the stolen vehicle were detained and questioned. After completing their initial interviews, all three suspects were FIOed and released pending an investigation.
