At approximately 18:00 hours yesterday Boston EMS, Boston Fire, Massachusetts State Police, Boston Police & MBTA Transit Police responded to the I-93 North exit 16 ramp for the reports of a pedestrian struck priority one.
Boston Ambulance 10 and Paramedic 2 quickly arrived and began treating the adult male who was suffering from serious life threatening injuries after being struck and dragged by a truck a the top of the ramp. The man was subsequently transported to a local area hospital where we are awaiting an update on his condition.
Witnesses we spoke to at the scene described a terrifying incident, when a white pick up truck, that had been driving erratically at high speeds, struck the man. Then proceeded to drag him a short distance before his body was thrown onto the sidewalk.
MSP took control of the scene and with the assistance of BPD and Transit Police, the ramp and surrounding area was closed with traffic diverted. After investigating, interviewing witnesses and a field sobriety test, MSP took the driver of the truck into custody.
This morning MSP confirmed that Gellissa Objio, 32, of Stoughton who was driving the white 2004 Ford F-150 had been charged with the following:
OUI-Liquor 4th offense;
OUI Liquor & Serious injury & negligent;
Operate MV with license suspended, subsequent offense
Marked lanes violation
