Tribute to BPD Detective McManus, 05/16/2020

It is with our deepest sympathies that we regret to announce the passing of Boston Police Detective McManus (Retired). On May 16th, shortly after 21:00 hours, Detective McManus peacefully passed while surrounded by family and friends at his home in West Roxbury.

Earlier in the day we had the honor of capturing an amazing tribute, organized by Boston Police Relief Association, to Retired Boston PoliceDetective John McManus in West Roxbury outside of his residence.

Detective McManus was appointed in 1961 and served with dedication until 1982, being seriously injured in the line of duty. Detective McManus remained active with Boston Police Department associations after his retirement through his support of Cops for Kids with Cancer, the Emerald Society and the BPRA.

In attendance today were officers from Boston and other surrounding areas, friends, family, BPD Commissioner Gross, Boston EMS A5, Boston Fire and many others.
