Pedestrian Struck for The Second Night in a Row at Mass & Cass

On August 23rd at approximately 01:30 hours a 39-year-old “resident” of Methadone Mile was struck by a 2010 Subaru Outback at the intersection of Massachusetts Ave and Melnea Cass Boulevard.

One of our photographers who witnessed the incident described hearing the screeching of tires before watching the man who was struck get sent flying at least 15 feet into the air.

Boston Police assisted the state, and Boston Fire and Boston EMS responded to the scene. Massachusetts State Police Troopers heretically rendered aid to the man as they waited for EMS helping save his life.

The operator of the vehicle, 40-year-old Jose L. Moreta-Guerrero of Dorchester was charged with speeding and OUI liquor. The victim was transported with serious but non-life-threatening injuries to Boston Medical Center.

UPDATE: last night/early this morning there was a third pedestrian stuck in the same area of Massachusetts Ave on Methadone Mile. The pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital with significant and serious injuries.
