Man in Critical Condition After Vicious Beatdown and Stabbing in Downtown Crossing

Last night at approximately 20:09 hours, Boston Police Officers from District A-1 responded to the area of 49 Temple Place in Downtown Crossing for the reported Assault and Battery in progress. The 911 caller reported seeing a group of at least 3 to 5 people viciously attacking a man and beating him while on the ground.

First arriving officers located the adult male victim laying on the sidewalk in the area outside of the restaurant Boston Chops. He had been seriously injured and Officers confirmed he had been stabbed and slashed multiple times. A large amount of blood could be seen from where the victim had lay bleeding onto the sidewalk. After canvassing the area it was discovered that the scene actually extended up onto Park Street as well.

Boston EMS EMTs, Paramedics and Command Staff quickly arrived, stabilized the man and transported him to a local area trauma center with serious, life-threatening injuries. As of this morning he was listed in critical condition and it is still unsure if he will survive his injuries.

Due to the severity of the victims injuries, full notifications were made at the scene by the PS. District Detectives, Homicide Unit Detectives and the Crime Scene Response Unit all were called to the scene. At this time there have been no reported arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
