Overnight at approximately 01:15 hours Boston Police Officers from District C-11 as well as members of the Youth Violence Strike Force responded to a fellow officer’s calls for assistance on Savin Hill.
The incident started when officers noticed a vehicle driving on an unpaved path near the closed Dorchester Yacht Club and preformed a standard RMV inquiry on the vehicle. The plate came back to a vehicle that was reported stolen and Officers immediately attempted to stop the suspect car.
The operator of the vehicle, rather than stop and follow lawful commands, fled the area driving in an erratic manner and at a high rate of speed down Savin Hill Ave before turning onto Sydney Street where he bailed on foot. Officers followed the vehicle, giving chase once they saw the driver flee on foot.
Keondre Barrett, 20-years-old of Dorchester, was arrested after being apprehended in the rear of 17 Sydney Street. He was identified as the operator and charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, refusal to submit, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Barrett is not new to the stolen property game, in November of 2019 he was arrested for receiving stolen property in excess of $1200 on Columbia Road.
