Overnight at approximately 01:44 hours Boston Police Officers assigned to District C-11 for multiple ShotSpotter activations for Shots Fired in the area of 106 Dakota Street in Dorchester. While units were responding to the incident, Operations updated that ShotSpotter was reporting multiple shooters with high-capacity weapons. First arriving units reported that they witnessed multiple vehicles as well as people on foot fleeing from the area.
It appeared to Officers that a large back yard party was emptying out into the street as a result of the shots fired. Luckily no victims were located and at this time no reported persons shot have arrived at any local hospitals. Once Officers were able to secure the scene, they began to canvas the area, searching for witnesses as well as ballistic evidence.
While searching the area, Officers located numerous spent shell casings as well as multiple bullet holes into a house on the street. There were so many casings that additional evidence markers had to be brought to the scene from the stations just to keep up. After speaking with neighbors, it became clear that two young black males approached the area where the party was letting out before shouting something about how it was their streets and then opened fired. Miraculously no one was hit.
Detectives were called to the scene and it was processed accordingly. As of the time of this article, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
