Yesterday evening shortly after 20:00 hours Boston Police Officers attempted to stop a vehicle during a criminal investigation of a ShotSpotter activation. When Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled, and for the safety of Officers as well as other drivers on the road it was decided best to not pursue the vehicle. A short while later, Officers located the vehicle in the area or the Mass Ave Connector and again attempted to stop the vehicle.
This time the vehicle again attempted to flee and entered I-93 Northbound. This time given the brazen and erratic actions of the operator, chase was given with units from the Massachusetts State Police as well as Boston Officers en tow. The chase lasted longer than expected with Troopers and Officers expertly following the dangerous and erratic driver, however just as everyone assumed the man would go until he couldn’t go any more, he crashed at the top of Exit 29 in Somerville.
Law enforcement quickly boxed the driver in preventing him from fleeing again, taking him into custody with out further incident. The operator of the motor vehicle has been identified as Martin Louis, 48-years-old of Lynn and is expected to face multiple charges including failure to stop. Luckily no Officers were injured and the man was taken away in handcuffs. At this time no further information is available.
