At approximately 22:50 hours Boston Police Officers from District B-2 and C-11 responded to the area of Columbia Road and Stanwood Street for a ShotSpotter activation for 13 rounds. While units were responding to the call, additional 911 calls began flooding the operations center for a shooting in that same area, in the background of one of the calls, a man could be heard saying someone had been shot and they needed to go to the Hosptial. Additional calls continued to come in reporting at least one person had been shot.
When units arrived on scene, they confirmed that at least two people had been shot, a female victim who had been already loaded into a car and was on the way to the hospital as well as a male victim that was located at the corner where the ShotSpotter activation originated. Officer quickly applied a tourniquet to the mans leg, stopping the heavy life-threatening bleeding, and when Boston EMT’s arrived they loaded the man into the hospital, rushing him to a local trauma center.
While on scene at Columbia Road, 911 received a call for another person shot on Intervale Street inside of a home. A number of District B-2 Units quickly broke off from the initial shooting call responding over to investigate. Units once on scene located an adult male that had been shot, quickly rendering aid unit Boston EMS could arrive. The victim also confirmed that he had been shot on Columbia Road, making him the third victim of the incident.
When EMTs and Paramedics got to the scene they found the man suffering from serious but non-life-threatening injuries consistent with a shooting. He was brought from the house and placed on a stretcher before being transported to a a different local area hospital. While on scene at Intervale St, the female victim arrived at Boston Medical Center, as well as another victim suffering from apparent gun shot wounds, bringing the total number of victims to four.
District Detectives from District B-2 responded to the expansive scene which stretched almost 2 full blocks. Spent shell casings could be see spanning the block as well as discarded cups, broken bottles and a large amount of blood. Evidence markers were placed and photographs were taken before the ballistic and other evidence was recovered.
At this time no further information is available, all injuries in this incident are believed to be non-life-threatening. No arrests have been made.
