On Friday Morning the 13th annual Kaitlyn Keaney Memorial Fund Golf Tournament and Benefit Party took place at the Brookmeadow Gold Course in Canton. The annual tournament is held in honor of Boston Police Officer Kaitlyn Elizabeth Keaney, who tragically took her own life in 2008.
The fund as well as holding the annual golf tournament also hosts a number of community events including taking part in the well known “Shop with a Cop” Christmas Event. From its incorporation in 2008, the fund has given college scholarships to Boston High School Seniors, and more to other City charities.
Friday was filled with lively competition on the golf course as well as a prize filled raffle following. Over $25,000 was raised through the event which many called a complete success.
Boston Police Commisioner William Gross also made an appearance. He gave a brief speech, centered around the importance of family within the department and appreciation towards the hard work of his men and women on the job given the harsh realities they face on a daily basis.
