At about 10:25 PM on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a ShotSpotter activation in the area of 119 Madison Park Court in Roxbury. On arrival, officers were directed to the area of Vernon Street where they observed an individual matching the description of the suspect walking at a hurried pace before entering the Walgreens parking lot. Officers approached the male and were able to catch up to him at the entrance to the Walgreens.
Additional officers arrived on scene and retraced the male’s path of flight. During the canvas, officers located a discarded firearm underneath a vehicle in the area of 23 Vernon Street. The firearm, which was reported stolen out of Lexington County, South Carolina, was determined to be a Ruger SR9C 9mm firearm loaded with two rounds of live ammunition and an extended high-capacity magazine. The suspect was taken into custody.
A female victim later reported to the District B-2 Station where she stated that her motor vehicle had sustained ballistic damage when she and her friend were shot at in the area of Madison Park Court. A canvas of the area in which the initial call came in led to the discovery of seven 9mm spent shell casings as well as ballistic damage to three vehicles, including the vehicle belonging to the female.
Officers arrested Chawki Ibrahim, 20-years-old, of the South End. Ibrahim is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm 3rd Offense, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building, Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Receiving Stolen Property.
