At about 12:37 hours on Sunday December 13, 2020, officers assigned to District B-3 arrested Jamori Brown, 18, of Roxbury, on firearm related charges after responding to a call for a person with a gun in the area of 108 Southern Avenue in Dorchester. Officers were provided with a detailed description of the suspect who was observed jumping a fence in the rear of the address with a firearm in his hand. On arrival, officers located the suspect standing on the front porch of the residence and approached to speak to him. Officers detained the suspect and performed a pat frisk with negative results.

Officers then called for assistance from the BPD K-9 Unit at which time K-9 ‘Oz’ and his handler arrived on scene. Oz was able to quickly locate a loaded .40 caliber Smith and Wesson M&P handgun equipped with a laser sight which had been discarded and hidden nearby. The firearm was safely recovered and the suspect was placed in custody without incident.
