At approximately 23:36 hours Tuesday night, Boston Police Officers from District B-2 and Boston EMS responded to the area of Circuit Street and Walnut Ave for the reports of a person shot. Original reports were slightly confusing with some reporting the victim had shot themselves while others claimed a man on scene had fired the shot.
When Officers and EMTs arrived they found a 23 year old woman laying on the side of the road, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. After assessing the woman EMTs deemed the woman to be non-viable and she was pronounced deceased.
The victims family was on scene and due to their volatility and out of respect for the young woman the decision was made to transport her body to a local area hospital. After being delivered to the hospital, the Office of The Chief Medical Examiner took custody for the Body where an autopsy for cause of death will be preformed.
On scene Officers detained the victim’s boyfriend who is believed to have pulled the trigger according to the family. He was transported to Boston Police Homicide Unit for further questions however at this time Boston Police have stated there have been no arrests in the incident and it is pending the Medical Examiners findings.
The family of the young woman adamantly refused the boyfriends claims that the woman had for some reason publicly shot herself on the side of the road on what coincidentally was her birthday. The 23-year-old woman was a mother of two young children, a 3-month-old and a 3-year-old, and according to her family was not suicidal or surfing from any mental health issue. The family continues to claim the shooting was a result of a domestic dispute between the couple.
Full notifications were made due to the circumstances surrounding the incident with District Detectives and Detectives from the Homicide Unit responding as well as investigators with the Crime Scene Response Unit. Multiple blocks surrounding the area where the woman was found were closed to the public for hours while the scene was processed.
After detectives cleared the scene America Bio, a cleaning company specializing in human fluids and remains were called to clean the blood and fluids out of the snow which was feet away from a neighborhood Christmas Lights and Manger Display.
Again, at this time Boston Police have only been able to confirm that they responded to a shooting in the area, stating that it is not their policy to comment on ongoing investigations especially before the medical examiner can render a cause of death. No further information is available however we will update once we have more.
