Tuesday evening Boston Police, Boston Fire and Boston EMS responded to the intersection of Heath Street and Columbus Ave after reports of a pedestrian struck with serious injuries. When first responders arrived on scene they located an adult male victim suffering from serious life threatening injuries. EMTs and Paramedics quickly packaged and transported the male to a local area trauma center where he currently is clinging to life.

The last update we received as of this morning is that the man is still alive, but barely. Due to the seriousness of the man’s injuries full notifications were made with District Detectives, the Homicide Unit, investigators with the Fatal Collision Incident Team and Crime Scene Response Unit all responding to the scene. Investigators could be seen processing the evidence including a winter hat and a large pool of blood.

At this time the cause of the accident is still under investigation and it is unknown if the driver will face charges. We were able to confirm that the driver did stop and remain on scene after the incident. Witnesses also told us that the victim appeared to be well dressed and possibly on his way home from work when he was struck while crossing the street.
