Busy Weekend for Boston Police Officers and Detectives with the Arrest and Recovery of Multiple Firearms

Incident #1:

At about 12:44 AM on Friday, February 26, 2021, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) while on patrol in the area of 129 Callender Street in Dorchester, observed a motor vehicle illegally parked in the middle of the street in a “No Stopping/No Parking Zone” blocking a private driveway. Officers safely recovered a loaded Bearman Arms Model BB638 Derringer .38 Special with two rounds in the chamber. Also recovered was a digital scale, $3,681 USC, a digital scale and multiple bags of a white rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine. Christopher Baker, 27, of Taunton was arrested and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession with Intent to Distribute. Class B (Drugs). He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

Incident #2:

At about 6:00 AM on Friday February 26, 2021, officers assigned to the Citywide Drug Control Unit as well as the District C-11 (Dorchester) Drug Control Unit made an onsite arrest after executing a search warrant in the area of 7 Easton Street in Hyde Park. The officers made entry to the residence with assistance from members of the BPD SWAT Team at which time they located and detained the target of their investigation. Officers then continued their investigation which led to the recovery of a loaded .40 caliber Beretta handgun, several rounds of ammunition, approximately 4,800 grams of fentanyl, more than 50 grams of cocaine, 2,105 percocet tablets and $1,660.00 in U.S. Currency. The suspect was then placed in custody on scene without incident. The suspect has since been arraigned in West Roxbury Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device, Trafficking Fentanyl (over 200 grams) and Trafficking Class B Drugs.

Incident #3:

At about 7:34 AM on Saturday February 27, 2021, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Ashley Celester, 29, of Dorchester, after responding to a call for a person with a gun in the area of 34 Stanley Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers located the suspect who appeared to be angered and distressed. When officers attempted to conduct a pat frisk, she began to violently resist. Officers were able to gain control of the suspect at which time they recovered a loaded .22LR caliber Cimarron Plinkerton revolver with a defaced serial number from inside a purse she was carrying. The suspect was then placed in custody without incident. It was later determined that the suspect was wanted on three outstanding warrants on charges including Unarmed Robbery, Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Shoplifting issued out of Boston Municipal Court, Dorchester District Court and West Roxbury District Court. The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number and Resisting Arrest.

Incident #4:

At about 12:54 AM, on Sunday, February 28, 2021, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an on-site firearm arrest of Edmilson Barros, 26, of Brockton in the area of 117 Alexander Street in Dorchester. While on patrol, officers conducted a CJIS query on a motor vehicle whose registered owner, Edmilson Barros had a suspended license and a straight warrant out of Attleboro District Court for Operating on a Suspended License. Officers activated their lights and sirens to conduct the motor vehicle and spoke with Barros. Mr. Barros was arrested for Operation after Revocation/Suspension. During the search of the vehicle lawful incident to arrests, officers located a firearm in the center console of the motor vehicle. The Stoeger STR-9 was loaded with one round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine. Edmilson Barros was additionally charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

Incident #5:

At about 2:49 AM on Sunday, February 28, 2021, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan), while on patrol in the area of 1480 Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan, conducted a motor vehicle stop resulting in an on-site firearm and drug arrest of Billy Alexander, 38, of Brockton. Officers observed a motor vehicle travelling at an excessively high rate of speed and activated their lights and sirens to conduct a motor vehicle stop. Officer approached the motor vehicle and spoke with the driver, Billy Alexander. Alexander began reaching toward the front passenger area where officers could see a fixed blade hunting knife on the front seat. An exit order was issued on Alexander and a pat-frisked for additional weapons on his person was conducted with negative results. While conducting a pat-frisk of the interior of the vehicle, officers observed a fanny pack and from inside recovered a loaded Ruger LCP .380 with four rounds in the magazine, one plastic bag containing marijuana and one digital scale. Billy Alexander was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Firearm with Altered Serial Numbers, Possession with Intent to Distribute, Class D, Drugs. Alexander is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

Incident #6:

At about 11:53 PM on Sunday February 28, 2021, officers assigned to District B-3 arrested two juvenile suspects on firearm related charges after responding to a call for shots fired in the area of 35 Meadowbank Avenue in Mattapan. On arrival, officers observed two males walking away from the scene at a fast pace with their hands concealed. The officers stopped the males, later identified as a 15-year-old from Cambridge and a 17-year-old from Cambridge at which time they frisked both parties for officer safety. As a result, officers were able to safely recover a loaded 9mm Poly 80 handgun inside a shoulder holster from the 15-year-old suspect and a loaded .22 caliber Deringer pistol from the right pants pocket of the 17-year-old suspect. Both were then placed in custody on scene without incident. During the booking process, officers recovered a spent shell casing from inside the jacket pocket of the 15-year-old suspect. Officers were unable to locate any victims or property damage at the shots fired scene. The suspects will face arraignment in Dorchester Juvenile Court on charges of Delinquent to Wit: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling.
