Shortly before 15:00 hours in the normally quaint neighborhood of 74 Beacon Street in Hyde Park, Boston Police Officers were made aware of a possible shooting. Moments after it happened, Boston Police YVSF members (Gang Unit) who were in the area on another investigation, quickly located an adult male subject suffering from a gun shot wound.
They were able to find a crime scene and lock down the perimeter as well as stop a vehicle and take two subjects into custody believed to be involved in the shooting. Due to the quick response to the scene by the Gang Unit, the man who was later transported by Boston EMS is expected to make a full recovery.
After speaking with neighbors, the story of what one woman called “the house from hell” soon became clear. The house which the subjects were shot in front of, was recently sold to what neighbors call a “slum lord” who allegedly turned the beautiful old home into a run down boarding house.
The neighbors say they have called 911 numerous times for everything from late night parties to domestics in the front yard, but nothing has been done. It’s unclear at this time if the property was zoned, licensed, or registered as a legitimate boarding house however either way neighbors say their local leaders need to do something. “It’s crazy I have teenage kids who live here and now we have bullets literally flying through our walls. Something needs to be done, this is just wrong.”
At this time no further information is available and Boston Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made. Community members wishing to assist this investigation anonymously can do so by calling the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1 (800) 494-TIPS or by texting the word ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463).
