Officers Take Cover as Bullets Rain Down on District B-2 Parking Lot

At approximately 5:40 PM on Monday March 15, 2021, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested two juvenile females while recovering a loaded firearm after taking cover from shots fired toward the station’s parking lot in the area of 2400 Washington Street in Roxbury.

The officers were standing in the secured parking lot of their District Station when they were sent scrambling for cover after hearing the sounds of shooting in such close proximity. Unsure of the origin of the gunfire, the officers immediately sought cover – scanning the area to locate the threat while radioing into operations.

A Shot Spotter activation was quickly received for the area of 43 Saint James Street, the street directly behind the Police Station. Additional radio transmissions reported multiple officers’ vehicles being hit from the shots with detectives holding the area of the station as a crime scene. The officers from the B-2 parking lot as well as additional surrounding units responded immediately to Saint James Street in hopes of finding the shooters.

Once the scene was located, officers observed two female suspects, believed to be 15 and 16 years of age, fleeing the area on foot. One of the two suspects, who was later identified as the shooter, was seen handing off a loaded .40 caliber Glock 22 handgun equipped with a laser sight and 25 round magazine to the other suspect who then discarded it before it was safely recovered by the responding officers. Both suspects were placed in custody and will appear in Boston Juvenile Court on multiple firearm related charges.
