Sunday morning was a busy one in the area of Mass Ave. and Melnea Cass Blvd. – the area that is commonly referred to as Methadone Mile. There were multiple 911 calls to the area as well as victims reporting to local hospitals.
The morning started with a stabbing around 09:00 hours. This one was not called in to BPD, but the victim later presented to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound, claiming that it happened in the area of “Mass and Cass”. A trail of blood was traced from the ER back to a homeless encampment on Methadone Mile.
Some hours later, approximately 11:40 hours, reports of stabbing and assault were called in with officers from C-6 as well as D-4 responding to the scene. The number of victims is still not clear; however, at least one person was stabbed, with the injuries deemed superficial, and another assaulted, likely the result of the bloodied bat that was seen at the crime scene.
