At approximately 04:15 hours yesterday morning, the East Boston Police Department, Boston EMS, and the Boston Fire Department began receiving calls for a serious motor vehicle accident in the area of 310 McClellan Highway in East Boston after an SUV collided into a tanker truck.
When first responders arrived on scene, they found an adult male sprawled out on the highway after seemingly being ejected from the vehicle. EMTs declared the man to be in traumatic arrest with no palpable pulse or obvious signs of life.
Chest compressions and other life saving interventions were performed, and the man was transported by EMTs and Paramedics to the local area hospital. Sadly even with the quick actions of responders the man eventually succumbed to his injuries.
At this time, it is still believed that the victim is clinging to life, however we are unable to confirm specific details. Due to the severity of the man’s injuries, full notifications were made, with members of the Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Response Unit, Command Staff, District Detectives, and FCIT responding to the scene of the crash.
Detectives and investigators processed no the scene, and were seen marking, measuring, and collecting evidence, rendering the highway closed for hours. While it has not been officially confirmed, it is believed that no charges are expected.
