At approximately 18:45 hours Tuesday evening, Boston Police Officers from District C-6 responded to the area of Moakley Park, adjacent to The Old Harbor Projects, in South Boston for calls for shots fired.
Witnesses at the park at the time of the gunshots reported several families with children playing in the park as well as neighborhood teens on the basketball courts. Shots began firing and people were reportedly ducking behind picnic tables and trashcans. One woman was shot in the leg by stray bullets. Boston Police Officers rendered aid, calling for Boston EMS who eventually transported the victim to a local area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives were called in to process the scene. After locating shell casings, ballistic evidence was photographed, cataloged, and collected. No arrests have been made and no further information is available at this time.
