Routine Traffic Stop Leads to Recovered FIrearm

On Thursday April 22, 2021 at about 03:55 PM, after an investigation into an individual possessing a vehicle with weapons and ammunition inside, officers located the suspects vehicle on Kingsdale St, Dorchester (District B3). At about 5:09 PM, officers observed the suspect entering his vehicle with a brown back pack. Officers then stopped the vehicle in the area of Browning Avenue and Wales St, Dorchester. Officers determined that the suspect had a suspended license and arrested Stevens Augustave, 21, of Randolph, MA.

During a Motor Vehicle Inventory Search, officers located the following items from the brown back pack Augustave was observed with:  A medium plastic bag and 4 plastic bags containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and also two glass jars containing loose marijuana. Officers then discovered a black Sig Sauer 9MM. which contained 10 rounds under the seat.

When asked to see Augustave’s License to Carry, Augustave could not produce one. Inside of the trunk of the vehicle, officers located a black duffle bag containing two black mask, two black bags, one brown cap, two sets of gloves, a plastic bag, three glass jars and a can of butane.  Further investigation revealed that the motor vehicle had attached plates and a canceled registration that came back to a different person.

Augustave will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Operating after Suspension and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
