Pedestrian Struck in Hit and Run on Frontage Road

At approximately 00:00 hours Saturday morning, Boston Fire, Boston Police, Mass State Police, along with Boston EMS, EMTs, and Paramedics responded to the Frontage Road of I-93 Northbound before the South Bay Shopping Center.

The man was discovered by an off duty police officer who immediately called for help and began rendering aid. The officer requested EMS be pushed despite the heavy traffic, as the pedestrian was unconscious and bleeding heavily from the head.

Medics began treating the man, giving him some sort of medicine as well as intubation before transporting the man off to a local area trauma center. Witnesses told police that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene and provided investigators with a description of the suspect and vehicle.

Due to the location of the incident, Mass State Police took jurisdiction and called their investigators into the scene. Troopers photographed and collected evidence throughout the area of the crash as well pulling video from surveillance cameras that captured the incident.

No further information has been released at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. Any community members wishing to assist the investigation can do so by contacting investigators with the Massachusetts State Police at 617-946-3000.
