Two-Alarm Fire in Charlestown Overnight Leaves 3 Displaced

At approximately 23:45 hours Sunday night, Engine 50, Engine 32, and Ladder 9 of the Boston Fire Department responded to the area of 17 Allston Street, in Charlestown, for heavy fire showing from floors 1 and 2 of an occupied 2 1/2 story building. A 2nd alarm was immediately ordered and additional companies responded.

Firefighters tackled the blaze and quickly overhauled the fire. All 3 of the occupants were evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported. Damages are currently estimated to be in the $500k range.

Boston EMS was on scene to stand by and the Red Cross of Massachusetts assisted the residents with shelter. At this time the cause of the fire is still under investigation by Boston FIU.
