SWAT Called After Man Shot in Head, Brother Suspected as Shooter

Midday Friday, shortly after noon, Boston EMS and Boston Police responded to multiple 911 calls for a person shot in the head laying in the road on Westmore Road in Mattapan.

Units arrived on scene and found the victim clearly sustaining a gunshot wound to the head, but he was conscious and able to talk. Boston EMS quickly stabilized him and transported him to a local area trauma center with serious, life-threatening injuries. While EMS was rendering aid, Boston Police began speaking with witnesses to get an idea of what went on. Multiple people that had been in the area at the time of the shooting reported that the shooter was in fact the victim’s brother, and that he had fled back into the residence where they had found the victim.

Officers immediately set a perimeter and made the decision to evacuate civilians in the area and call in the SWAT team. They arrived and began searching the area to make sure that there was no immediate threat in the vicinity – eventually turning the investigation back to BPD. No arrests have been reported at this time.
