Investigation Update: At about 4:40 PM on Monday, May 17, 2021, members of the BPD Citywide Drug Control Unit along with members of the FBI Metro Boston Task Force located and arrested Elzo Lopes, 29, of Dorchester, in the area of 842 North Quincy Street in Brockton, pursuant to an outstanding arrest warrant.
The suspect was placed in custody without incident during a traffic stop with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police and the Whitman Police Department. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted in connection to a non-fatal shooting of an adult male victim that occurred at about 9:19 PM on Friday May 14, 2021, in the area of 34 Norton Street.
An investigation by district detectives resulted in the issuance of an arrest warrant out of Dorchester District Court on charges of Assault with Intent to Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm (3rd and Subsequent Offense) and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
