Firearm and Pills Recovered After Roxbury Man Arrested For Shooting

At about 2:58 AM, on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Warren Street in Roxbury.

While arriving in the area, officers heard what they believed to be gunshots and were approached by a victim who stated he had been shot. Officers were given a description of the suspects vehicle and were able to locate it in the area of 34 Catawba Street where they also located the suspect, later identified as Emmitt Thompson, 56, of Roxbury. Boston EMS treated the victim on scene for a non-life-threatening superficial wound to the buttocks. The victim refused to be transported to the hospital and walked away from EMS.

Emmitt Thompson was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court. Following the initial charges, a search warrant was executed at 36 Catawba Street, where officers recovered a loaded 9mm firearm and ammunition. Also recovered was an assortment of pills. Thompson will face additional charges.
