Three in Custody And Two Firearms Recovered During Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 10:33 PM on Thursday June 3, 2021, members of the BPD Youth Violence Strike Force, with assistance from patrol officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury), arrested three individuals while recovering two loaded firearms during a traffic stop in the area of 45 Lawrence Avenue in Dorchester.

The officers had stopped a motor vehicle as part of an ongoing firearm investigation and removed the operator, Christian Cooper, 27, of Dorchester, at which time they performed a pat frisk, leading to the recovery of a holstered .380 caliber Ruger LCPII from the pants pocket of the suspect. The suspect was immediately placed in custody without incident. The weapon was loaded with 6 rounds of ammunition and appeared to have an obliterated serial number. Officers then removed the rear seat passenger, Musa Diakite, 26, of Jamaica Plain, and recovered a loaded 9mm XD-9 3.3 MOD2 handgun from the area where the suspect had been seated. The second suspect was then placed in custody on scene without incident. Officers then removed the front seat passenger, Dominique Lewis, 30, of Boston, and placed him in custody after they learned he was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant sought out of Boston Municipal Court on charges of Assault and Battery.

All three suspects will face arraignment in Dorchester District Court. Cooper and Diakite will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm. Cooper will face an additional charge of Possession of a Firearm with an Altered Serial number.
