Reckless Driver Apprehended Without Injury After Fleeing Police in Roxbury

At approximately 21:45 hours Tuesday night, Boston Police Officers assigned to District B-2, with the assistance of the BPD K-9 and Gang Unit, apprehended a suspect in his vehicle in the area of Dudley Street and Blue Hill Ave, in Roxbury after he had attempted to evade police some 30 minutes prior.

The vehicle was wanted in connection to a shots fired incident – when Officers attempted to stop him initially, he fled the area aggressively, at a high rate of speed Luc blowing through red lights and almost striking multiple cars while weaving in and out of traffic.

Officers were finally able to catch up with the suspect, however before they were able to remove him from the car he violently struck a cruiser. The officers attempting the stop were able to jump out of the way in time escaping injury. Finally they were able to open one of the doors and remove him, engaging in a brief struggle before he was ultimately taken into custody. Boston Police have identified the suspect as Brevin Dossantos Wellington, 23, of Boston and charged him with the following:

  • Failure to Stop for a Police Officer
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Speed Greater than Reasonable
  • Marked Lanes Violations
  • Failure to Stop for Red Light
  • Additionally a request for an Immediate Threat License Suspension/Revocation was filed with the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles
