Early Friday morning, shortly before 03:00 hours, Boston Fire received calls for heavy fire at 15 Castle Rock Street in Dorchester. First arriving companies responded to the residence and found flames showing from the 2nd and 3rd story of the 3-family home.
It quickly became a 3-alarm fire, and early on firefighters contained the spread of the fire to adjacent buildings. Companies used ground ladders due to limited access to the home as a result of trees and overhanging wires. Despite their quick efforts, the rear porches collapsed as a result of the flames. A total of 4 adults, 2 children, 2 cats displaced – one of which tragically did not make it. There were no other injuries reported.
The Red Cross of Massachusetts assisted the residents with shelter. Damages have been estimated at around $800,000. At this time the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
