Two Juveniles in Custody After Armed Robbery Spree Through Boston

At approximately 02:00 hours Saturday morning, Boston Police Officers assigned to District C-6 and C-11, responded to reports of two armed robberies in progress in the area of 847 Columbia Road and an incident with a similar description at 137 Dorchester Street.

The dispatcher confirmed the suspect descriptions were the same for both incidents: two black males wearing face masks and hooded sweatshirts, on a red scooter, and attempting to rob the intended victims by gesturing that they had a knife or gun. While officers were gathering the information on both incidents, members of the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force observed a scooter matching the description in the area. They attempted to stop the shooter and eventually pursued the scooter to South Bay Shopping Center, where the suspects ran into a curb and then began to attempt to evade Police on foot.

Officers stopped one suspect in the parking lot by Target after a brief foot pursuit. They located multiple phones and the personal property matching the descriptions of what had been stolen in both incidents on scene. The other suspect had fled and ran onto the I-93 near exits 17 and 18. A perimeter was set up and the suspect was eventually caught in a grassy area on the other side of the highway by a police K-9 asset. They too located personal property belonging to the victims of the robberies earlier in the night on this suspect.

Both victims were detained at South Bay, and due to the quick succession of the incidents and finding of the suspects, the victims were brought in to identify the suspects, both of whom were positively identified. The victims were able to get their property back thanks to the immediate action of all responding units.

One suspect refused to get out of the vehicle, and was unable to be ID’ed due to the fact he was crying hysterically. He could be heard from the other side of the South Bay Lot whimpering and crying so loudly that Boston EMS was brought in to assess the suspect at the station however he swore at them to “f*** off” and refused treatment. Both suspects are believed to be approximately 17 years old from the Mattapan Area and are charged with Delinquent to Wit – Armed Robbery (Knife) – (Masked) and presumably will be arraigned at a later date.
