East Boston DCU Grabs Gun on Blue Hill Ave

At about 7:30 PM on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, members of the District A-7 Drug Control Unit (East Boston) conducted a drug investigation in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Clifford Street in Roxbury which led to a Drug and Firearm arrest of Lyonel Williams, 38, of Worcester.

During the investigation, officers observed Williams lift his sweatshirt and manipulate an item on his right front hip. Later, Williams attempted to conceal himself behind a dumpster when officers observed him engage in a hand-to-hand transaction with an unknown party.

Based on their observations, officers believed that Williams may be armed with a firearm while engaging in street level drug deals. Officers approached Williams, frisked the black fanny pack and recovered a loaded Ruger 9mm EC9 with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine.

Also recovered from the fanny pack were ninety-three plastic baggies of crack cocaine weighing approximately 50 Grams and $865 in USC.

Lyonel Williams was placed under arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Trafficking; Class B, Drugs. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
