Tuesday night, at approximately 23:30 hours, Boston Police Officers received reports of shots fired near Mayfair Street in Roxbury off of MLK Blvd, as well as multiple ShotSpotter activations, one for 15 rounds on Washington Street in Roxbury, by Malcolm X Park and another for 4 rounds at 150 MLK Blvd.
Officers reported a person having been shot a single time to the leg being transported in a black SUV to Boston Medical Center. Boston Police stopped multiple vehicles before finding the woman who had been shot. A male with her was originally thought to be a victim, however turned out to be a witness in a state of panic as a result of the incident.
BPD immediately rendered aid to the woman, applying a tourniquet before Boston EMS arrived to transport her to the trauma unit where the received treatment for serious injuries. Detectives arrived to the hospital to get statements from witnesses to shooting that had gone to the hospital.
Officers began investigating the reported areas of shots fired, locating ballistic damage, spent shell casings, and multiple blood trails throughout the park and the streets bordering the park. A crime scene was established by the basketball courts, and a discarded firearm was eventually recovered. All evidence was processed by District Detectives.
