BPD Arrests Man Passed Out in His Car on Multiple Charges After Recovering Two Loaded Firearms and Drugs in Mattapan

At about 12:52 AM on Friday July 23, 2021, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Jamaul Vital, 26, of Dorchester on firearm related charges after responding to a call for a person passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the area of 624 Norfolk Street in Mattapan.

On arrival, officers observed that the operator, later identified as Vital, appeared to now be conscious and alert but the motor vehicle was disabled and would need to be towed. While awaiting a tow truck, the officers recovered a loaded 9mm Springfield Armory handgun and a loaded 9mm Taurus handgun from inside the vehicle. Officers also recovered a large plastic bag of marijuana, a small plastic bag of crack cocaine and a small plastic bag containing prescription pills believed to be Xanax.

The suspect was placed in custody without incident and will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent – 2 Counts), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm (2 Counts) and Possession of Class B, D and E Drugs.
