At about 7:10 PM on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested two individuals in the area of 31 Woodgate Street in Mattapan. Officers arrested Joemil Baez-Diaz, 22, of Haverhill and Andy Pimental, 20, of Mattapan.
Officers observed Baez-Diaz standing in a group of about seven males in the area of the Morton Street Housing Development. Officers approached the group and made contact with Baez-Diaz and after a pat frisk, recovered a loaded Glock 9×19 Model-43x firearm, with one round in the chamber and eighteen rounds in the magazine from his waistband. Baez-Dias was also in possession of seven yellow pills located in a plastic bag along with $2945.oo USC, which was seized. Officers also recovered a firearm from the waistband of Pimentel. The firearm was determined to be a Glock .45 model 36 with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine.
Joemil Baez-Diaz was placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, Drugs.
Andy Pimentel was placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. They are both expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
