Mattapan Man Arrested After Intentionally Striking Trooper With his Car

At approximately 20:15 hours Sunday night, Massachusetts State Police Troopers from H Troop as well as Boston Police Officers assigned to District B-3 arrested Wilmer Arias-Cespedes, 19, of Mattapan, in connection to an incident that happened around 02:00 hours that morning in Lynn.

The original incident involved Arias-Cespedes intentionally striking a trooper with his Jeep Grand Cherokee. The trooper had been responding to a noise complaint at a business on the Lynnway when the vehicle struck him, causing non-life-threatening injuries to the trooper.

The trooper spotted the vehicle later that night after a BOLO was broadcasted for the 2014 Jeep. The trooper proceeded to stop the vehicle and placed him under arrest after confirming he was the involved party in the incident earlier that day. Arias-Cespedes was transported the Revere Barracks where he was ordered to be held without bail. He was charged with the following: Assault and Battery on a Police Officer; Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon; Failure to Stop for Police; and Speeding, and appeared yesterday at Lynn District Court.
