Quick Arrest After Shots Ring Out In the South End

At about 9:10 PM on Monday, August 16, 2021, officers assigned to District 4 (South End), responded to a call for shots fired in the area of 774 Albany Street which resulted in the firearm arrest of Daniel Santana, 39, of Boston.  

Upon arrival, officers spoke with several witnesses who observed the suspect raise a black object in the air and heard a loud blast along with seeing a bright flash of light, which they believed to be a muzzle-flash. There were no reported injuries.

Additional officers responding to the scene observed the suspect, later identified as Daniel Santana, walking on East Concord and Harrison Avenue. Officers stopped Santana and recovered a loaded Star SA firearm with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine from a fanny pack that Santana was wearing.

He was safely placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawfully Possession of Ammunition, Firearm with Altered Serial Numbers; Possession and Firearm Discharged Within 500 Feet of a Dwelling.

Daniel Santana is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
