Foot Chase Leads To Firearm and Drug Arrest of Known Violent Criminal

At about 5:39 PM on Tuesday August 24, 2021, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force along with the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit made an on-site firearm arrest of Justice Skelton, 24, of Jamaica Plain in the area of 10 Chesterton Street in Boston.

While on patrol officers observed a motor vehicle traveling on Massachusetts Avenue with no front plate and excessively dark tinted windows. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver accelerated, making an illegal turn onto Pompeii where officers lost sight of the vehicle.

Responding officers observed the suspect quickly sprint away from the motor vehicle and jump a fence in the area of 2 Pierson Street. As officers began canvassing the area for the suspect, they were made aware that Skelton had gained illegal entry into the rear door of a home then fled back outside where officers found him hiding under a set of stairs.

Skelton was placed under arrest for Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operating after Revocation/Suspension and Dwelling House; Day Breaking and Entering.

Recovered from the scene was a loaded Glock 22 Gen 4 .40 caliber with one live round in the chamber and fifteen rounds in the high-capacity magazine. The firearm was also affixed with a flashlight and laser attachment.

Also recovered were Plastic Ziplock bags containing multiple white rock like substances believed to be crack cocaine and a plastic baggy containing several blue pills. Officers seized $4,036.00 cash from the suspect.

Justice Skelton was additionally charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd Subsequent Offence, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Trafficking 10 or More Grams of Fentanyl and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, Drugs. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
