H-Block Rolling Shootout Lasts Nearly 3 Blocks Leaves Cars and Homes Damaged

At around 22:30 hours on Tuesday August 24th, Boston Police from District B-2 responded to a ShotSpotter activation. ShotSpotter indicated numerous rounds fired, originating from the area of Sonoma Street, in the H-Block area of Roxbury.

On arrival, officers located an expansive scene, starting at the top of Sonoma Street and leading down almost 3 blocks, onto Maple Street. Over 30 shell casings could be seen littering the area. Multiple vehicles were damaged, as well as one security cruiser with ballistic damage to the windshield. The security guard, who is inside the vehicle at the time, sustained only minor injuries from the glass shards.

Witnesses and surveillance cameras in the area captured what appeared to be two vehicles having a rolling shoot out as they drove through the neighborhood. Striking nearby cars with bullets, as well as their vehicles.

Amazingly no one was shot.

Detectives were on scene for almost 2 hours, processing the extensive amount of evidence left in the aftermath. No further information is available regarding this investigation at this time.
