Uncooperative Witnesses Leave Doherty Playground Shooting With No Suspects

On Thursday August 26 at 20:40 hours, officers from District C-11 responded to John A. Doherty Playground at 1545 Dorchester Ave for reports of shots fired. Reporting parties stated there were possibly three people shot.

Officers immediately began searching the area for victims, but were unable to locate anyone. The large group that had been at the park could be seen running in all directions, seemingly running from something on the far side of the park. Witnesses directed Officers to the area of Bourneside Street and Paisley Park. In that area, Offcies found numerous spent shell casings, ballistics damage to a car and homes, as well as numerous discarded items.

No victims were located. District detectives were called in to process the scene. After two hours of processing, as first responders were gettin ready clear the scene, a victim self presented to local area Hosptial with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. There were no forthcoming witnesses, and no further information released.
