Boston Police B-2 Recover Yet Another Firearm

At about 1:55 am on Saturday, August 28, 2021, Officers assigned to District B2 (Roxbury/Dorchester) made an on-site firearm arrest of Malique Banks, 24, of Dorchester, MA, in the area of 36 Washington Street in Dorchester.

Officers observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of Columbia Road and Old Road.  Officers conducted a traffic stop of the motor vehicle in the area of 36 Washington Street.  As officers approached the vehicle, they observed Banks to be making several quick movements.  Officers removed Banks and another male passenger to conduct a frisk of the vehicle. 

As officers began to frisk the vehicle, Banks became combative with officers on the scene and repeatedly attempted to re-enter the vehicle.  Banks was placed into handcuffs following a brief struggle.  As Officers resumed the frisk, they discovered a loaded firearm. The firearm was determined to be a Taurus 9MM with one (1) round in the chamber and eight (8) rounds in the magazine.

Banks will be charged with the following expenses: Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID card, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Operation, Speeding, Possession of an Open Container in a Motor-Vehicle. Malique Banks is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
