Quick Thinking Officers Apply Life Saving Tourniquet to Mattapan Shooting Victim

On Saturday, August 28, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation indicating numerous rounds in the area of Blue Hill Ave and Havelock Street, Mattapan. Upon arrival, officers located a victim with gunshot wounds to the lower body. Officers quickly realized that the victim was losing blood at a rapid rate, and applied a life-saving tourniquet while awaiting the arrival of EMS.

Boston EMS arrived and transported the victim to a Boston hospital. The victim was suffering from serious injuries, but is expected to survive. The shooting left area homes riddled with bullets, with a plethora of ballistic evidence collected. District B-3 detectives processed the scene. No further information has been released regarding this ongoing investigation.
