Man in Mental Health Crisis Rescued After Jumping Off Mass Ave Bridge

On Wednesday, September 8, at 19:15 hours multiple agencies responded to reports that a male subject was suffering from mental health issues, and had jumped off the bridge.

Boston Police, Massachusetts State Police, Boston Fire Department, Boston EMS, and other area first responders arrived on scene. An off-duty firefighter in a boat attempted to rescue the man, but he refused help and became combative.

After some time, a State Police boat, along with the off-duty firefighter, were able to wrestle him into the boat. They were met at the dock by Boston EMS for transport to an area hospital.
