MSP and BPD Gang Unit Make Another Firearm Arrest in Uphams Corner

At about 11:15 PM, October 2, 2021, Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest of Jairo Santos, 19, of Dorchester.

Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force were on patrol in the area of Columbia Road when they observed a vehicle with dark, tinted windows. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of 480 Columbia Road.

Officers instructed Santos to exit the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs for officers’ safety. Officers then conducted a frisk of the vehicle and located a bag near where Santos had been seated. Officers felt an object consistent with the shape and weight of a firearm. Officers recovered a loaded firearm with an extended magazine.

Santos, still in handcuffs, then attempted to flee from officers on foot and was apprehended after a brief foot chase. The recovered firearm was a Taurus 9mm Firearm with a High-Capacity Magazine loaded with four (4) rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Santos is to be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device Disorderly Conduct. Santos is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
