2-Alarm Fire Rips Through Dorchester Multi-Family Overnight

At approximately 00:30 hours early this morning Boston Fire Fighters responded to 1631 Dorchester Ave after receiving calls for Fire showing. On arrival a second alarm was ordered with heavy fire extending to another building.

Crews made quick work of the blaze, knocking it down efficiently to save the structures. The majority of the damage was isolated to the first floor of the primary building.

Witness said one person was taken away on a stretcher by Boston EMS however BFD reported no injuries. A total of 14 residents, including 7 children were displaced in the fire. The families will be provided assistance by MA Red Cross and BFD-VAU. At this time the cause of the fire is still under investigation by BFD-FIU with no further information available.
