Firearm Arrest in B-3 Over The Weekend

About 6:50 PM, December 19, 2021, Officers assigned to District B3 (Mattapan/Dorchester) conducted a traffic stop in the area of Bernard Street and Talbot Avenue and made an onsite arrest for motor-vehicle violations of Shekinah Destin, 20, of Milton, and Jaquon Alexander, 19, of Dorchester for weapons violations.

Officers were on patrol in the above area when they observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. Officers conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the vehicle operator, Destin, who provided Officers with a learner’s permit. Officers then requested the driver’s license for the passenger, Alexander, as learners permit operators are required to have a licensed operator in the vehicle as they drive. Alexander did not have a license to operate a motor vehicle.

Officers requested a tow to the scene. As they attempted to search the vehicle before the vehicle was towed, Alexander became combative with Officers and actively resisted Officers’ attempts to place him into custody. Officers were able to place Alexander into custody, with one Officer suffering injuries as a result of the struggle. As Officers completed the search, a firearm was recovered from the vehicle.

The firearm was determined to be a .25 Cal Titan handgun, loaded with one (1) round in the chamber and one (1) round in the magazine. Alexander is to be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Resisting Arrest, and Interfering with a Police Officer.

Destin is to be charged with Operations of a Motor Vehicle without a license. Alexander and Destin are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
