Roxbury Joyride Leads to 16-Year-Old Arrested for Firearm Possession

About 11:08 PM on Sunday, 01/09/2022, Officers assigned to District B2 made an onsite firearm arrest of a 16-year-old juvenile male in the area of Warren Street and MLK Boulevard at the YMCA.

Officers were advised via Operations that a vehicle was reported stolen, and a firearm was observed in the possession of the thief.  Officers canvassed the area and eventually located the vehicle crashed on Warren Street into a parked Zipcar and the fence od the YMCA.

The occupants fled the vehicle on foot.  After extensively canvassing the area following fresh footprints in the snow, Officers were able to locate the juvenile male, as well as a discarded firearm in his flight path.  Officers placed the male into custody without further incident.

The firearm was determined to be a Taurus PT 145 Pro, loaded with seven (7) .45 caliber rounds of ammunition in the magazine.

The juvenile male is to be charged with as a Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Commission of a Felony While Armed, Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Buying, Receiving or Concealing Stolen Goods. The juvenile male is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
