B-3 Anti-Crime Unit Bust Repeat Felon for Illegal Firearm Possession

At about 12:43 AM, on Thursday, December 16, 2021, officers assigned to the District B-3 Anti-Crime Unit (Mattapan) conducted a traffic stop in the area of River Street and Mamelon Circle resulting in the firearm arrest of Rolando Coxon, 29, of Hyde Park.

While on patrol in the area of Babson Street and Norfolk Street, officers observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed fail to stop at a stop sign on Fremont Street. Officers activated their lights and sirens and the motor vehicle came to an abrupt stop at River Street and Mamelon Street.

As a result of the traffic stop, officers recovered from the vehicle, a loaded Ruger LC9mm with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine. After further investigation it was revealed that the firearm was reported stolen out of South Carolina in April of 2019.

Rolando Coxon was placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Subsequent 3rd Offense, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Subsequent 3rd Offense and Receiving Stolen Property. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
