Leyden Street Standoff Ends Peacefully After SWAT Returns a Second Time in One Day

At 10:56 hours on Wednesday January 19, 2022 an off-duty Boston Police Officer reported neighbors seeing a man holding an American flag and stopping cars while yelling at the occupants aggressively.

Witnesses told responding District A7 units that a male was also throwing objects out of the home at 91 Leyden Street, and was seen brandishing a silver firearm.

Tango Gold and other responding units entered the home under guard of shields. Units cleared the area without taking the man in to custody, calling off “based on current information.”

The same day, at approximately 21:00 Boston Police responded back to 91 Leyden Street, where SWAT was quickly deployed. After a short stand-off, the suspect walked out of the home and surrendered peacefully. He was taken by Boston EMS to an area hospital under a Section 12.

No further information is available at this time.
